Program | Pet Animal Medicine and Surgery Program |
Vision | The Pet Animal Medicine and Surgery Program seeks to prepare a scientifically outstanding graduate veterinarian in the medicine and surgery of domestic pets capable of competing at the local and regional levels. |
Mission | The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Benha University, is committed to participating in scientific and research progress in animal health and common diseases between domestic animals and humans. The Faculty strives to supply the local and regional market with veterinarians who can compete and work in pet medicine and surgery in veterinary hospitals and government and private clinics through courses in Study, practical applications, and laboratory training. |
About Program
|
Preparing and training cadres of students and graduates to apply skills and knowledge in pet medicine and surgery and to protect consumers and public health from exposure to diseases transmitted by dogs and cats. Helping graduates to meet the growing labor market for the treatment and care of domestic animals and creating new job opportunities in the veterinary field. Acquiring the necessary skills to deal with various pathological problems of domestic animals such as cats and dogs. Preparing cadres capable of setting up vaccination and prevention programs to limit the spread of diseases. Keeping pace with local and regional changes due to the increase in the breeding and possessing of domestic animals for various purposes. The program awards a bachelor's degree in veterinary medicine, "Veterinary Medicines and Biological Preparations Excellence." The program was established by the Ministerial Resolution No.5711 of 2018. Graduation requirements: 190 credit hours. Classrooms: 2 in the animal medicine department + Faculty departments’ halls + Veterinary Teaching Hospital halls. Lab rooms: 2 in the animal medicine department + The Central Laboratory + departments laboratories + veterinary teaching hospital laboratories. The program actual start time: September 2019. 2 batches have graduated from the program, the first one in 2021. |

Abattoirs (slaughter houses) of animals and poultry. 10. General Authority for Veterinary Services, which performs governmental and non-governmental services in various specialties. 11. Zoos – clinics and laboratories. 12. Faculty members in the faculties of veterinary medicine. |
Joining and Registering Conditions |
1. Joining is allowed for those with a high school diploma (Science), or its equivalent, or transferred from the corresponding government faculties, according to the conditions set by the Supreme Council of Universities. 2. The Faculty council sets the general rules for admission so that the student’s desire and the principle of equal opportunities are the basis for accepting students into credit hour programs. 3. Graduates of veterinary medicine faculties who have a bachelor’s degree in the specialty from Egyptian universities or private and foreign universities approved by the Supreme Council of Universities can be admitted, provided that they study from the third year additional to studying the subjects of human studies and analytical chemistry. 4. International students can join according to the conditions set by the Supreme Council of Universities. |
