Brief History

Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (Accredited by the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation since September 2013)

About the Faculty: The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine officially commenced studies in 1981, established under Ministerial Decree No. 278 of 1981.

The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine comprises the following facilities:

  • Laboratories Building 1 & 2
  • Academic Departments Building: This building houses the departments of Anatomy, Histology, Physiology, Biochemistry, Food Control, and Animal Wealth.
  • Laboratories Building 3 & 4
  • Pre-clinical Departments Building: This building includes departments of Pathology, Parasitology, Bacteriology, Mycology, Immunology, Forensic Medicine, Zoonotic Diseases, Virology, and Avian Diseases.
  • Clinical Departments Building: This building encompasses departments of Internal Medicine, Surgery, and Obstetrics.
  • Veterinary Teaching Hospital Building: This facility includes the annex for clinical departments and practical study halls.
  • Administration Building: This building houses the Dean's office, Vice-Deans, Faculty Secretary, Student Affairs, Postgraduate Studies, Cultural Relations, Administrative and Financial Affairs, General Affairs, and Youth Welfare.
  • Large Lecture Hall Building: This building contains two lecture halls, one main hall, and a large reception area. It also features five lecture rooms specifically for students of the new programs.
