Mechanism for the Faculty Library’s Compliance with Intellectual Property and Publishing Rights
In accordance with the applicable laws and in order to safeguard intellectual property rights, the Faculty Library is committed to the following measures:
- Full compliance with the provisions of Law No. (82) of 2002 concerning the protection of intellectual property and publishing rights.
- Prohibition of the use of any unlicensed software on library computers.
- Prevention of copying or reproducing any works protected by authors’ or publishers’ rights (including books, publications, and references) in any manner that constitutes an infringement of those rights.
- Permitting students to photocopy no more than 10–20% of any legally protected book or reference (with local or international deposit/ISBN) strictly for study and research purposes, while prohibiting the circulation or distribution of photocopied materials in either printed or electronic form.
- Allowing faculty members and their assistants to use limited portions of scientific references, international journals, or educational materials in classrooms for teaching purposes, provided that the author’s name and the title of the work are properly cited.
- Permitting the Library to reproduce a single copy of any work solely for preservation purposes when the original copy is lost or damaged and cannot be easily replaced.
- Providing clear guidelines for library users to ensure compliance with governing laws, in addition to organizing seminars and meetings to promote awareness of intellectual property rights and their importance.
- In the event of any violation of these procedures, the Dean of the Faculty shall be notified to take the necessary actions.
- Prohibiting the sale or circulation of books or study notes that are not legally protected (local or international deposit/ISBN) within the Library, while permitting the circulation of study notes approved by the Department Council and prepared exclusively for educational purposes.
- Promoting awareness of intellectual property laws among faculty members, teaching assistants, students, and administrative staff by distributing this document and publishing it on the Faculty’s official website.
