Department Objectives

"The Department of Livestock Development aims to enhance the educational process, improve the quality of education, and conduct comprehensive and continuous evaluations at the undergraduate level for students in the first and second years of the general program, as well as students in various college programs such as the Veterinary Pharmacy and Biological Preparations program, the Excellence Program in Companion Animal Medicine and Surgery, the Biotechnology and Biological Analysis program, the Food Quality and Control program, and the Excellence Program in Poultry and Rabbit Medicine. Additionally, the department focuses on postgraduate studies, research, and community engagement. This is achieved through:

  • Developing course content and enhancing skills and experiences to meet the requirements of the job market with the department's materials.
  • Equipping laboratories and classrooms with modern learning tools, equipment, and devices.
  • Monitoring student attendance in theoretical and practical classes.
  • Establishing a system for periodic exams to evaluate the educational process within the department.
  • Implementing a seminar system and organizing workshops and scientific meetings with students to discuss scientific problems within the department.
  • Adding new educational topics that meet the needs of the community and the job market.
  • Supporting the use of modern technology in education and learning, and developing software packages required to enhance the skills of faculty members to support the educational process.
  • Developing educational systems and learning methods, moving towards new educational patterns, and using diverse teaching strategies.
  • Registering for various academic degrees such as diplomas, master's, and Ph.D.s in the specializations of animal production, poultry, genetics, genetic engineering, veterinary economics and project management, and biostatistics within the department.
  • Publishing local and international research by faculty members and students enrolled in master's and Ph.D. programs within the department.
  • Improving the quality of education and training within the department, where faculty members participate in the quality unit team with different criteria such as postgraduate studies, financial and material resource management, leadership, and governance. Participating in and attending local and international conferences, workshops, and training courses to develop the capabilities of faculty members at the university.

Regarding postgraduate studies in the department:

  • Involving postgraduate students in selecting research topics.
  • Participating in research projects aimed at assisting postgraduate students.
  • Opening scientific and research fields with research centers and all relevant bodies in the field of veterinary medicine to promote research awareness and attract postgraduate students.
  • Monitoring the implementation of the department's research plan within a specified timeframe.
