Benha University Launches the Fifth Annual Student Conference on Applied Sciences
Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of Benha University, the Fifth Annual Student Conference on Applied Sciences was officially inaugurated at Benha University.
The opening ceremony was attended by Prof. Dr. Gehan Abdelhady, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research; Prof. Dr. Taha Ashour, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; deans and vice deans of the University's faculties; Prof. Dr. Khaled Eissa, General Coordinator of Student Activities; and students participating in the conference.
The second day of the conference featured a series of distinguished lectures. Actor Tarek El Dessouky delivered a lecture on the role of drama in fostering awareness and strengthening national belonging, while Captain Mohamed Abdallah, captain of Al Ahly Sporting Club, spoke about the role of sports in building character and developing individuals. Engineer Mohamed Zahran, an expert in digital transformation, presented a lecture on cybersecurity. The program also included presentations highlighting several inspiring success stories from Benha University students.
In her remarks, Prof. Dr. Gehan Abdelhady reaffirmed Benha University's commitment to supporting student creativity, encouraging academic excellence, and strengthening the role of scientific research in building a brighter future for both students and the nation. She emphasized that students' participation through research papers, projects, and presentations represents an important step in developing their academic and professional skills while providing valuable opportunities to exchange experiences, embrace new ideas, collaborate effectively, and cultivate innovation and creativity.
Prof. Dr. Taha Ashour stated that the conference reflects the University's commitment to promoting a culture of applied scientific research and linking educational outcomes with the needs of society and the labor market, in line with Egypt Vision 2030, which places innovation and knowledge at the forefront of its priorities for building a strong and sustainable economy. He emphasized that students are the cornerstone of the educational process and the hope for Egypt's future.
For his part, Prof. Dr. Khaled Eissa noted that scientific research is the driving force behind societal development and a way of life that enables communities to progress. He added that research also plays a vital role in strengthening the University's reputation both nationally and internationally. He explained that the student conference, held alongside the Fifth Annual Conference on Applied Sciences, recognized 30 outstanding research papers, four published research papers, and four student success stories.
On the sidelines of the conference, the University's Vice Presidents praised the innovative projects presented by undergraduate students. They toured the exhibition, listened to presentations by student project teams, and commended the quality of the research and projects addressing a wide range of topics in the field of applied sciences.
