Dean of Veterinary Medicine Explores Collaboration with Huazhong Agricultural University Delegation from China

Prof. Dr. Amany Abbass, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, along with Prof. Dr. Abdelfattah Selim, Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research and Director of the International Relations Office at the university, welcomed a high-level academic delegation from Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU), China. The visit aimed to strengthen scientific and research cooperation between the two institutions.

The delegation was headed by Prof. Dr. Jian Sheva, one of China’s leading rice scientists, and included:

  • Prof. Dr. Jianwei Jian, Professor of Genetic Engineering
  • Prof. Dr. Xiao Jiahuo, Professor specializing in rice research
  • Prof. Dr. Jin Shi Xia, Professor of Agricultural Microbiology
  • Prof. Dr. Xi Jin, Professor of Biotechnology
  • Prof. Dr. Mohamed Farhat Foda, Professor of Nanotechnology and visit coordinator

The meeting featured fruitful discussions on potential areas of scientific and research collaboration, particularly in the fields of biotechnology and nanotechnology. Both parties also explored the possibility of launching joint research projects and activating student exchange programs between the two universities.

As part of the visit, Prof. Amany guided the delegation on a tour of the faculty's laboratories and research centers, which received high praise from the Chinese side for their advanced equipment and facilities.

This visit is part of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine’s ongoing efforts to expand its international relations and build a broader network of academic collaboration with prestigious global universities — an initiative that is expected to positively impact the quality of both education and scientific research.

Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Highlights Student Innovation on Day Two of 4th Annual Applied Sciences Conference "Research Creativity Towards a Sustainable Future"

As part of the second day’s events of the 4th Annual Postgraduate Conference in Applied Sciences, held under the theme “Research Creativity… Towards a Sustainable Future”, Prof. Dr. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of Benha University, Prof. Dr. Gehan Abdel-Hady, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, and Dr. Rasha Ragheb, Executive Director of the National Training Academy, inaugurated the Exhibition of Applied Science Student Projects, which was held on the sidelines of the conference in the presence of several university leaders.

The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine made a strong and distinguished appearance at the exhibition. Among the attendees were:

  • Prof. Dr. Amany Abbass, Dean of the Faculty
  • Prof. Dr. Hossam Fouad, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs
  • Prof. Dr. Abdelfattah Selim, Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research
  • Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Abdel-Ghaffar, Director of the University Projects Unit
  • Prof. Dr. Eman Araby, Director of the Academic Advising and Psychological Support Unit
  • Dr. Dina Awad, Assistant Professor in the Department of Food Quality and Control

In addition, several students from the faculty participated by presenting outstanding research projects.

Students from the faculty won four awards at the university level:

  • First Place
  • Second Place
  • Third Place (awarded twice, including one shared prize)

The faculty also stood out in the field of international publication, reflecting the high quality of its scientific output and its relevance to practical, community-based issues.

Winners across various fields were awarded monetary prizes, and the university pledged to support and adopt the most applicable and innovative ideas and research projects, reinforcing its ongoing commitment to innovation and student creativity.

Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Joins First Day of 4th Annual Postgraduate Conference in Applied Sciences "Research Creativity Towards a Sustainable Future"

As part of its support for scientific research, keeping pace with scientific advancements, and reinforcing the university's role in serving the community, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Benha University made a strong and effective contribution to the first day of the 4th Annual Postgraduate Conference in Applied Sciences. The conference was held under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of the University, and Prof. Dr. Gehan Abdel-Hady, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research.

Prof. Dr. Amany Abdelrahman Abbass, Dean of the Faculty, chaired one of the scientific sessions of the conference entitled "Genetics, Food Hygiene and Food Technology", where she played a key role in leading scientific discussions and presenting outstanding research in this vital field.

Additionally, Prof. Dr. Abdelfattah Selim, Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research, delivered a speech during one of the conference sessions. He spoke about his academic and research journey, which culminated in his recognition as one of the top 2% of scientists worldwide, according to the global Stanford University ranking.

In the same context, Prof. Dr. Hanem Khater, Professor of Parasitology at the Faculty, co-chaired a scientific session entitled "Horticulture and Plant Protection", which addressed the latest trends in horticulture and plant protection.

Furthermore, Dr. Menna El-Sheshtawy, Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Food Hygiene, presented a research paper during one of the sessions. In her presentation, she reviewed the results of her study and highlighted key recommendations that serve the field of food safety.

This active participation reflects the distinguished academic presence of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Benha University and its prominent role in supporting scientific research and innovation in pursuit of sustainable development.
