Department Head Word

The Department of Zoonotic Diseases is considered one of the distinguished departments at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Benha University. The Department is dedicated to the teaching and study of diseases transmissible between humans and animals due to their significant importance and impact on public health and the national economy. These diseases contribute substantially to human morbidity and to losses in animal production, and their control requires coordinated efforts at the regional level across the Arab world.

Teaching within the Department is carried out by a selected group of highly qualified professors and faculty members. In addition, Department members actively participate in training courses at various research centers. The Department also conducts international research in the fields of diagnosis and epidemiology of zoonotic diseases, in collaboration with colleagues within the Faculty, other universities, and research institutions. Furthermore, the Department supervises joint scientific theses in cooperation with local, regional, and international bodies.

The Department plays a vital role in community service through raising awareness about the risks posed by zoonotic diseases, identifying sources of infection, clarifying modes of transmission to humans, and outlining strategies for control, prevention, and disease mitigation. These activities contribute directly to supporting the Faculty’s mission and achieving its strategic goals.
