The Department of Fish Diseases and Aquatic Care is one of the distinguished departments at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. It is staffed by a select group of outstanding professors and faculty members who hold Ph.D. degrees from the United States and Japan. The department focuses on teaching fish diseases and aquaculture.
Faculty members actively participate in field visits to fish farms and specialized research centers in aquatic sciences. They also engage in training courses at research centers and colleges of fisheries in Suez and Arish. Additionally, the department conducts international research in the fields of diagnosis and treatment of aquatic diseases, enhancing immunity, and increasing growth rates, in collaboration with colleagues from the faculty, other universities, and research centers.
Several colleagues supervise joint scientific theses in collaboration with local, regional, and international institutions. The department plays a vital role in community service by raising awareness about the importance of disease prevention in fish farms and offering various consultations to farm owners for diagnosing fish diseases.
