“Food Safety Control and Laboratory Analysis: From Scientific Principles to Market Demands” — Training Course at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine ??

Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of Benha University; Prof. Dr. Taha Ashour, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Dr. Amany Abdelrahman Abbass, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine; Prof. Dr. Hossam Fouad Attia, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs; and Prof. Dr. Ehab Mostafa El-Nahhas, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development.

The Innovation and Entrepreneurship Office at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Benha University, in cooperation with the Central Laboratory of the Faculty, organized a specialized training course entitled:

“Food Safety Control and Laboratory Analysis: From Scientific Principles to Market Demands.” ??️

The training course was held over two days, Monday and Tuesday, March 2–3, 2026, at the Central Laboratory headquarters of the Faculty.

The course aimed to qualify students and equip them with integrated laboratory skills required for food examination in food processing industries. Training covered sensory, chemical, and microbiological analysis techniques for evaluating various types of food products, thereby enhancing students’ readiness to meet labor market requirements in the field of food safety and quality control. ??

A total of 30 students from different academic years at the Faculty participated in the program.

The training course was conducted under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Afaf Desouky Abdel-Maged, Director of the Central Laboratory, and Dr. Dina Abdel-Razek Awad, Director of the Faculty’s Innovation and Entrepreneurship Office and coordinator of the scientific content of the course, with the participation of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Office team.

The training activities were delivered by:

• Dr. Mennatallah Hatem, Lecturer, Department of Food Hygiene and Control.
• Amira Ezzat, Assistant Lecturer, Department of Aquatic Animal Medicine.
• Yostina Atef, Demonstrator, Department of Food Hygiene and Control.

This training initiative reflects the Faculty’s commitment to bridging academic knowledge with practical laboratory skills and enhancing students’ employability in the food safety and quality assurance sector. ??

Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Organizes a Free Veterinary Convoy in Menyet El-Seba’ Village, Benha District ????

Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of Benha University, Prof. Dr. Taha Ashour, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Prof. Dr. Amany Abdelrahman Abbass, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, the Faculty organized a free veterinary convoy in Menyet El-Seba’ Village, Benha District, on Thursday, March 5, 2026.

The convoy was conducted under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Ehab Mostafa El-Nahhas, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, in cooperation with Dr. Hany Shams El-Din, Director of the Veterinary Directorate of Qalyubia Governorate. The activities were coordinated by Ms. Rania Moataz, Assistant Secretary of Benha University for Community Service and Environmental Development, with the participation of Prof. Dr. Mohamed Mostafa Kandil, Director of the Faculty’s Veterinary Teaching Hospital.

This initiative comes within the framework of the Faculty and University’s plan to serve the surrounding community and support livestock owners. ??

During the convoy, veterinary teams carried out clinical examinations and medical check-ups for various animal species and provided free treatment for all examined cases. In addition, the team offered veterinary awareness sessions on common animal diseases and distributed general guidelines on proper animal nutrition and care. ??

The convoy provided veterinary services for a large number of animals, including:

• 91 cases of cattle and buffaloes ?
• 89 cases of sheep and goats ?
• 3 equine cases ?
• Ultrasound examination for 35 additional farm animal cases
• 1,160 poultry cases, including chickens, ducks, and pigeons ??
• 2 surgical procedures ?
• 1 case involving a companion animal ?

All medications and treatments were provided free of charge to all cases.

The convoy was implemented with the participation of faculty members, teaching assistants from the clinical departments, and veterinarians from the Faculty’s Veterinary Teaching Hospital, reflecting the Faculty’s continued commitment to community engagement, veterinary healthcare outreach, and professional veterinary training. ??
