Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Organizes a Free Veterinary Convoy in Mit Kenana Village, Toukh District 

Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of Benha University, Prof. Dr. Taha Ashour, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Prof. Dr. Amany Abdelrahman Abbass, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, the Faculty organized a free veterinary convoy in Mit Kenana Village, Toukh District, on Monday, March 9, 2026.

The convoy was supervised by Prof. Dr. Ehab Mostafa El-Nahhas, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, and carried out in cooperation with Prof. Dr. Marionette Nassif, Director of the Animal Health Research Institute – Benha Branch, the Egyptian Bridge Foundation for Development and Media, and coordinated by Ms. Rania Moataz, Assistant Secretary of Benha University for Community Service and Environmental Development. The convoy was also supported by Prof. Dr. Mohamed Mostafa Kandil, Director of the Faculty’s Veterinary Teaching Hospital.

This initiative comes within the framework of the Faculty and University’s strategic plan to serve the surrounding community and support livestock owners

During the convoy, veterinary teams conducted clinical examinations and medical check-ups for various animal species and provided free treatment for all examined cases. In addition, the team delivered veterinary awareness sessions on common animal diseases and distributed general guidelines on proper animal nutrition and care. ??

The convoy provided services to a large number of animals, including:

  • 81 cases of cattle and buffaloes ?
  • 24 cases of sheep and goats ?
  • 25 equine cases ?
  • Ultrasound examination for 40 additional farm animal cases
  • 1,046 poultry cases including chickens, ducks, and pigeons ??

Furthermore, the veterinary team performed:

  • 11 surgical procedures ?
  • 24 milk analyses using a Somatic Cell Count device
  • 23 microscopic laboratory examinations ?

All medications and treatments were provided free of charge to livestock owners.

The convoy was implemented with the participation of faculty members, teaching assistants from the clinical departments, and veterinarians from the Faculty’s Veterinary Teaching Hospital, reflecting the Faculty’s commitment to community engagement, veterinary healthcare outreach, and practical training for veterinary professionals
